We are responsible for the functional testing of electrically assisted power steering of cars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What makes our work interesting?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work of our test engineers starts with learning: they need to familiarise themselves with the operation of our testing workbenches, as well as the structure and operation of the system that they are going to test so that they can specify good tests. We supply numerous car manufacturers with steering systems which are very different from each other despite the apparent similarity.

Moreover, the same is true for the increasingly more complex systems developed by our system, hardware, and software developers. Our tests and testing workbenches have to keep pace with these systems, which means that learning and development is a vital part of our work. Practically all of our tests are automated on all levels of integration; the size of the code base written mostly in Python or Verilog and developed by our test engineers is on par with that of the source code for the steering system written in C. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Test Department is a separate department in the organisation, it is responsible for the independent, functional testing of the system and the software; but this does not mean that there is no collaboration with the developers, since due to the complexity of the system software developers and test engineers often have to work together at the testing workbench to make a decision about a phenomenon observed on the system under test.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Testing is carried out on three levels of integration of the system:\n

\n 1.) testing of the control software in the electronic control card using a special hardware-in-the-loop simulator;\n
\n 2.) testing of the subassembly consisting of an electronic control unit including a power module and a synchronous motor providing booster torque on a testing workbench;\n
\n 3.) and testing of the entire system complete with the mechanical components on a testing workbench.\n

\nThe testing environment and the workbenches are not purchased, but designed, built and maintained by our department.\n\nWe are responsible for the careful documentation of all the work we do to ensure the traceability of what and how we did in accordance with the standards of the industry and the expectations of our customers, and to make sure that defects and errors can be identified and corrected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The testing environment and the workbenches are not purchased, but designed, built and maintained by our department.
